The CYTO-Connect Conference will feature plenary sessions, themed breakouts, and hands-on workshops covering a wide range of topics, including biomedical and environmental applications of cytometry, clinical and diagnostic methods, shared resource laboratory operations, career development, and cutting-edge advances in quantitative cell sciences and engineering. The Organising Committee will be seeking to create a program that addresses a spread of issues and professional experiences that attract a broad discipline of attendees. We welcome you to submit an abstract for inclusion into the program.

This CYTO-Connect initiative highlights collaborations where partners combined expertise to solve challenges with cytometry. One partner presents the scientific or industrial impact, while the other details cytometry design and optimisation. Examples include a researcher and core technician optimising a complex panel to solve a scientific question, or an industry scientist and applications expert ensuring product safety. Show how collaboration drives innovation!
Oral Presentations will be allocated a 20-minute presentation slot, inclusive of question and discussion time).
Poster Presentations will be displayed in the exhibition area for the duration of the conference and presenters are requested to stand with their poster during the scheduled Poster Session to discuss their work. The poster displayed at the conference is required to be in A0 size and in portrait orientation.
Workshop Presentation will be interactive and hands-on workshop sessions designed for smaller groups presented at the Sunday workshop. We encourage proposals that foster engagement and practical learning, providing participants with valuable skills and insights, and / or build consensus toward a current discussion topic in cytometry.

The review criteria
Criteria 1 – Relevance | Criteria 2 – Clarity of Writing | Criteria 3 – Methods and Results | Criteria 4 – Contribution |
---|---|---|---|
3 Points – The abstract presents issues of immediate relevance and importance to flow cytometry, and offers techniques or results that are innovative and/or are based on current best practice | 3 Points – The title, aims and abstract clearly and concisely describe the topic. No more that slight copy-editing is required. | 3 Points – The abstract clearly describes novel approaches, methods or results, AND significance is clearly identified, AND conclusions are clear and are fully supported by the methods and results | 3 Points – The abstract presents issues of immediate relevance and importance to flow cytometry, and offers techniques or results that are innovative and/or are based on current best practice |
2 Points – The abstract focuses on techniques or results that are current and are relevant to the stream (clinical or research) it is being assessed for. | 2 Points – The title and aims are clear. The abstract requires minor edits only. | 2 Points – The methods are appropriate and conclusions are consistent with the results, but a few weaknesses in method, description of results or logic in drawing conclusions are present. | 2 Points – The abstract focuses on techniques or results that are current and are relevant to the stream (clinical or research) it is being assessed for. |
1 Point – The abstract is relevant to flow cytometry, but contains few elements that are current or of active interest. | 1 Point – The title and aims are unclear. OR the abstract requires major editing. | 1 Point – The methods are not stated clearly or are obviously outdated, OR conclusions are made which are not supported by the results presented. | 1 Point – The abstract is relevant to flow cytometry, but contains few elements that are current or of active interest. |
0 Point – The abstract is irrelevant or is of no importance to meeting participants. | 0 Point – The title, abstract and objectives are incomplete or not understandable, OR the abstract requires extensive rewriting to understand its meeting. | 0 Point – The methods are clearly inappropriate, OR the results are clearly inappropriate, OR the results are clearly inconsistent with the conclusions. | 0 Point – The abstract is irrelevant or is of no importance to meeting participants. |
- All presenters must be registered.
- Prepare your PowerPoint presentation in 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Save your presentation to a USB for upload in the Speaker Preparation Room onsite.
- Please do not send your presentation to Leishman Associates prior to the Conference.
- Collect your name badge from the Registration Desk upon arrival.
- Check-in to the Speaker Preparation Room, prior to your scheduled session to ensure your presentation is uploaded and all presenter requirements have been satisfied. Your presentation must be uploaded at least 2-3 hours before your scheduled presentation time; this may mean the day before your presentation.
- If you have audio and/or video in your presentation, please ensure you have the files saved separately as embedding the media does not always include them in the PowerPoint file. This will allow the Technical Team to re-embed and/or change the format of the video onsite if needed.
- If you are using custom fonts not found in the standard system fonts, please use the “Embed fonts in file” feature found in Save As/tools/save options. This will ensure that your fonts travel with the PowerPoint file when saved.
- Please ensure the contents of your presentation including photos, data, graphs etc. are generated by yourself, referenced or the appropriate owner has granted you permission to include their work for educational purposes.
- It’s important to note that presentations cannot be uploaded in the plenary room. It is your responsibility to check that your presentation has been loaded and is displayed correctly prior to the commencement of your session.

If you require anything additional to the above, please email your request to lucy@laevents.com.au and we will endeavour to meet your request.
- Arrive in the session room 10 minutes before the start of your session to introduce yourself to the session chair.
- The Session Chair will introduce you and your presentation title, so there is no need for you to repeat this.
- The Session Chair will keep you on time.
- Each session room is equipped with a windows-based PC, data projection facility and speaker monitor. Be sure to test your presentation in the Speaker Preparation Room.
